IBD – RHI Incentive Payment Scheme
The Government further incentivises the adoption of Heat Pump based heating products with an increase in the Renewable Heat Incentive payment scheme of 33% (for Air Source Heat Pumps) from April 1st 2017.
Homeowners who install eligible renewable heating technology can receive quarterly cash payments over seven years under the Government’s domestic Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) scheme.
The Government recently announced a strategy for greater energy security and reduction in CO2 emissions for the UK following a period of consultation and review. First introduced in April 2014, The RHI has driven sales of Heat Pumps, Solar Thermal and Biomass based heating products. This increase in tariffs is a significant opportunity for home owners to move away from traditional fossil fuel based boilers or the use of a combination of both (Hybrid systems). The benefit being greater stability in energy costs and more reliable heating systems. Supported by the increases in the RHI payments, home owners should see greater benefit in replacing their old boilers with more modern and cleaner renewable energy based heating products.
